HAHA Match Report – 2025 July 12

The day dawned bright, clear and HOT! That was the theme for the day with temps into the high 30s with the humidity. Fortunately, there was a decent breeze from the wind AND the two large fans set out at either end of the shooting area. Combined with the wonderful, covered shooting area and piles of water it turned into a pleasant match.

First some shout outs! A huge thank you to everyone that helped with the setup and take down. Everything went super smooth and we may well have set a record time how quickly it all went. Your efforts gave us plenty of time for sight in work and easing into the shoot.

Special shout out to Jason S for bringing a cooler full of ice. Thank you! Having cold water made a difference.

Thank you to Rick and Bill for stopping by and checking out the action. Bill even pitched in with setup! Great to see you both and look forward to seeing you at the next match.

A final thank you to HAHA for providing an outstanding place to shoot and the covered shooting area. It contributed to the day’s success, thank you!

On to the shoot, we got to the sight-in lanes about 10:00 AM and ran until 10:40 AM. A bit longer than usual and welcome by many.

The shoot itself got going about 10:45 AM. The wrinkle this time was for the Modified group with an extra target being set out for them on the positional lanes. They choose three targets to shoot with the requirement to shoot the longest one on each lane. And where the long ones spicy! The “short” long one was 48 yards and ½” kill zone. The long target was on the long side of 58 yards and a 1″ kill zone. Got everyone thinking and definitely was a challenge.

For everyone else it was also a great mix of targets. More full size kill zones than we have seen recently and some fun target placements that caught more than a couple shooters out. A rotation on their scopes. On the spicy theme, the HAHA winds came to play and play they did! Kept everyone on their toes and scratching their heads.

Everything was wrapped up and back in the shed by 2:30 PM.

A heads up for upcoming shoots:

  • Grenville, July 19th
  • Port Colborne, July 26th
  • Canadians (2-day shoot), September 11th&12th at Port Colborn.

Thank you everyone for a fantastic day shooting Field Target!
