The weather finally cooperated in a big way and we were able to get in our first match of the season at Grenville. It was sunny and stayed in the sixties to low seventies, making for a comfortable day. We shot the match on 15 lanes with two targets per lane. A number of unforeseen circumstances resulted in the attendance being down, but those of us that were able to make it enjoyed a good day and a fun, but challenging course. The wind was variable and switching making hold over a last second decision. Being able to shoot with both eyes open was certainly a bonus.
Kim and Blane, in the hunter division, both shot good scores on this first match.
Andre and Bill were at it again in Modified Open Piston Class, with Andre showing a great score for the first try of the season. At 85 years young, Bill is still knocking them down quite effectively.
The two Richards went head to head in the Modified Open PCP Class and Richard T., using his brand new HFT500 took top honours.
The difference between Open and Modified Open is that the discipline lanes can be shot from the same position as all the other lanes. Some are just unable to shoot the disciplines and this allows them to continue shooting in their own class.
Like Kim and Blane, Jeff and I (Tim) were pretty sure we would dominate our class. So we shot together and had a very enjoyable day.
Thanks to the Grenville club for the use of this excellent facility. Big thanks to all that attended and made the day a great success. I am looking forward to the June 21st date and hoping to see the number of shooters rise.
